Win Turner, PhD, LADC
Win’s efforts for the past 25 years as a licensed clinical psychologist, alcohol and drug specialist, evaluator, and technical assistant advisor continues to evolve and improve effective behavioral healthcare throughout the U.S.
As a founder of C4BHI along with Jody – he promotes and supports capacity building for national, state, university and community entities to adopt successful implementation strategies (SBIRT) and interventions like Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Effective Interventions for Youth & Families, Contingency Management and Healthcare Integration. Currently, Win’s primary work is helping train and evaluate SAMHSA and HRSA grant funded organizations with the goal of increasing their impact to improve client services related to substance and mental health. Win is helping to create field proven screening and intervention toolkits; as well as providing guidance, CQI and recommendations for adopting these effective practices. Agencies with his help are then more able to leverage findings to promote future initiatives. Win is a part time senior content advisor on SAMHSA’s knowledge acquisition program (KAP) which disseminates research to practice publications to aid in advancing substance use treatment nationally. In the past, he has participated on expert panels for Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), the National Drug Court Institute (NDCI), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), the New York Times and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Win holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Specialty License Alcohol and Drug Counseling. He served as an active board member in the Vermont Addiction Professionals Association (VAPA) and continues to help with his local community parks association building trails,and offering large quantities of apple cider he makes for local (school) fund raising events. Outside of his professional life, Win, his wife Laura and their three teenage boys enjoy xc skiing, hiking, mountain biking and playing pickleball.
