C4BHI is looking for additional school, college & primary care partners to help extend their goal of identifying and helping youth & young adults struggling with socio-emotional health needs. Youth Screening Brief Intervention Referral (YSBIRT) grant partners can receive funding through September 2023, automated digital tools for screening, including automated feedback and prevention/reduction messages, training and technical assistance, and much more.
Our socio-emotional wellness survey – SnapShot, automatically asks questions based on a respondent's answers, saving time and allowing individualized feedback with healthy tips after responses to questions about how a youth is doing right now. The tool creates an easy-to-read report with flags detailing strengths and risks enabling healthcare staff to affirm wellness choices and match risk with motivational interventions to work on the next steps with the youth.
Administering SnapShot is easy, flexible, and secure, meeting all HIPAA privacy standards. The survey can be done as an in-person interview on any device and can be self-administered from a secure digital invitation link. Administrators can also send links to many individuals at once, allowing a whole class to participate. The platform automatically can alert healthcare providers by email or text if there are important areas of concern needing immediate follow-up. Aggregate reports are generated automatically for the entire population who have taken SnapShotVt.
Importantly, when youth and young adults present with substance use and mental health risk, SBIRT provides a structured process, founded on the practice of Motivational Interviewing to intervene. The type and amount of intervention is scaled to match the level of risk. Feedback from existing partners is that adopting SBIRT has provided them with new methods and skills to better reach youth and young adults.
Grant partners can receive:
- Funding through September-2023 to implement YSBIRT.
- Funding can allow for the hiring of an alcohol and drug staff person for prevention & interventions.
- Digital automated tools for screening including automated feedback & prevention/reduction messages.
- Resources to provide immediate access to: tele-health or in-person connection with the college healthcare staff.
- For colleges and universities, Smartphone based incentives and FaceTime recovery coach sessions.
